American Girl® Playhouse Four-City Showcase
| |
In 2008, a coordinated national four-city placement of themed playhouses built by
Pardee Homes® based on the popular American Girl
® brand was placed in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Dallas. The four playhouses were displayed during the nationwide movie premiere of
"Kit Kittredge, An American Girl" movie starring Academy Award® nominee Abigail Breslin. A fifth American Girl
® Kit Kittredge playhouse will be completed and installed in Ontario, Calif. during HomeAid Inland Empire's annual fall Project Playhouse fundraiser in September.
‘American Girl Kit's Home on Abbott Place'
The five playhouses were designed around American Girl’s character doll Kit. Her concern for the less fortunate, her can-do spirit and her desire to spread the word were exactly right for Project Playhouse and the HomeAid mission. This adorable playhouse celebrated one of American Girl's most beloved historical characters: Kit Kittredge.
"Kit is a clever and resourceful girl growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio, facing the challenges of the Great Depression with courage and determination. When her family falls on hard times and they have to take in boarders, Kit gives up her bedroom and moves to the attic.Kit's attic bedroom becomes one of her favorite places, and this charming playhouse brings it to life. Just like Kit, girls will love curling up to read in the comfy chair, typing their own newspaper stories at the wooden roll-top desk, and creating a Member-o-belia Wall with notes and pictures from family and friends."
